Raga Surutti
This week for me started with listening to the Padam/Ashtaragamalika "Pannagendrasayana" by Swathi Thirunal. While looking at the ragas in the ragamalika "Raga Surati" caught my eye and I started researching about it.
Raga Surutti/Surati is a Janya of the 28th Melakarta Harikamboji. It is a Audava Vakra Sampurna Raga.
The Arrohanam and Avarohanam is as follows : S R2 M1 P N2 S
S N2 D2 P M1 G3 P M1 R2 S
Surutti is considered a very auspicious raga and considered a raga for mangalam like Madhyamavati, Vasanta, Shri and Saurashtram.
Surutti is ancient and a very scholarly raga, i.e. students require a certain amount of musical experience and knowledge to bring out the best of Surutti.
